All dancers in a solo, duet, or trio will receive a medal based on our scoring system.
PLACEMENTS:
• 1-5 routines in the category = 1st to 3rd place announced.
• 6-10 routines in the category = 1st to 5th place announced.
• 11+ routines in the category = category will be split. Split categories are done at random.
*1st Place; each dancer will receive a 1st Place Rosette.
*2nd to 5th Place; each dancer will receive a collectible SWDC Category Placement Coin.
All dancers in a group will receive a medal based on our scoring system.

At each awards session, our judging panel will select up to 6 routines that had the greatest impact on them - routines with real Shock Value. These awards are not based on score, but rather on shock and awe, passion, and presentation. Each dancer in a routine that is selected for a Shock Value Award will receive a collectible SWDC Shock Value Award Coin.
At each awards session, our judging panel will select 1 routine with the best costume. Each dancer in this routine will receive a collectible SWDC Costume Award Coin.
At each awards session, our judging panel will select up to 3 routines that left a lasting choreographic impression on them. The choreographer(s) will receive a cash award.
At the final awards session of each day, each studio’s highest scoring routine of that day will be announced as it’s Shock of the Day routine. This routine will receive a Rosette and each dancer in it will receive a collectible SWDC Shock of the Day Coin.
*In order to qualify for this award on a particular day, a studio must have a minimum of 5 routines perform that particular day.
The Shockwave BLACKOUT AWARD is a spontaneous, high-energy impact award triggered live by our judges or competition director. When a performance creates a truly electric feeling, a button is pressed and the entire stage drops to a blackout signaling an unforgettable moment of excellence! A blackout routine is immediately recognized on stage with a Blackout Plaque and each dancer in it will receive a collectible SWDC Blackout Coin.
At our final awards session of the event (or of each division), the top scoring routines in each of the following divisions will be announced:
*Petite, Mini, Junior, Inter, Teen, Senior ages will be recognized separately and may be combined where necessary.
NOVICE DIVISION
*1st Place; will receive a cash award and each dancer will receive a 1st Overall trophy.
*2nd to 3rd/10th Place; each dancer will receive a collectible SWDC Overall Placement Coin.
*1st Place; will receive a cash award, a 1st Overall trophy, and each dancer will receive a collectible SWDC Overall Placement Coin.

PRE-COMPETITIVE DIVISION

*Overall awards for each division may occur at different times throughout the competition, not just at the very end. This is dependent on event scheduling.
*Awards with a range of placements listed (ie. 5-10 Duets) will be dependent on the total entries registered at each competition.
*Shockwave Dance reserves the right to combine ages and divisions where necessary.
*Shockwave Dance will add additional placements if the category sizes are large enough.
*Cash awards may vary in denomination from event to event and will be dependent on the total entries registered at each competition.
At our final awards session of the event (or of each division), our judging panel will select up to 10 Shock Star Dancers that stood out to them the entire competition. Judges will look for dancers with strong technical execution, genuine performance quality and expression, confidence, connection, and their overall artistic presentation. These dancers will receive a cash scholarship for one month of paid tuition to the studio they currently train at (up to a maximum value). We understand the vital role that studio training has on its dancers, and how important it is to have consistent, dedicated dance classes available to them. We support the dancers AND the studios they come from. These dancers will also receive a Rosette and a collectible SWDC Shock Star Dancer Coin.

At our final awards session of the event (or of each division), the highest scoring routine in each style of dance will be announced as the competition's Style Standouts. This routine will receive a Rosette and each dancer in it will receive a collectible SWDC Style Standout Coin.
At our final awards session of the event, the highest scoring improvisation entry will be announced as the competition's Improv Standout. This entry will receive a Rosette and a collectible SWDC Standout Coin.
At our final awards session of the event, the highest scoring Highschool entry will be announced as the competition's Highschool Standout. Each dancer in this routine will receive a collectible SWDC Standout Coin.
At our final awards session of the event, the highest scoring Varsity entry will be announced as the competition's Varsity Standout. Each dancer in this routine will receive a collectible SWDC Standout Coin.
At our final awards session of the event, the highest scoring Adult entry will be announced as the competition's Adult Standout. Each dancer in this routine will receive a collectible SWDC Standout Coin.

COMPETITIVE LEVEL 2 DIVISION

*In order to quality for Top Studio in any particular division, a studio must register a minimum of 10 group routines in that division. Each studio's top 10 group scores from each division will be averaged to find their score.
*If a studio does not enter 10 group routines in a particular division, they cannot qualify for that division's Top Studio award, however, they can qualify for another division.
*A single studio cannot win both the Runner-Up and Top Studio titles in the same division, however, they can win multiple division titles.
*There must be a minimum of 3 qualifying studios in each division in order for a Runner-Up Studio title to be announced for that division. If not, then only Top Studio for that division will be announced.
*Cash awards may vary in denomination from event to event and will be dependent on the total entries registered at each competition.
